Problems

blogger apparently is having some problem, one of which its not allowing me to log onto it from my computer (im on my family members right now). Its driving me batty and I have done everything they say to do on their help page to no avail. Some other people are in the exact same boat as me and I hope that Blogger addresses these issues soon :( The biggest annoyance in all of this is there is no way to contact them through email or otherwise. Their one of the only sites I have ever been on that does not have a contact button on the bottom of their page or anywhere for that matter. So sorry no new posts until Blogger figures this one out. If anyone can give me any advise that would be great! Thanks

We Have A Winner

We have our first winner for our first contest here at Pins, Needles, & Kids! Congrats to wakeup.wakeup.2001!  For being a follower she was entered into Followers PNK's contest, where all you had to do was officially follow my blog. That easy! She wins a free crafting or sewing magazine. Thank you all for your support!  If your not a follower yet become one, mabey next time you'll be the winner of the next contest!

*To make the contest fair I used random.org to select a winner through their random numbers generator

Porch Sprucing

I L-O-V-E hanging out on the porch. A couple years ago when I was still working
a co-worker asked me if I lived on it. I laughed and then realized that it was probably a little weird to all my neighbors.
Oh Well, i'll claim the creepiest neighbor if it means I dont have to give up being on my porch alot.
This year when the weather started to get warm I really got to dreaming about what I wanted my porch to
be like. I pictured lots of yellows and some green, oh and little or no $ spent on it :) Heres where I am so
far. I want to get some green lattice type outdoor fabric for some throw pillows and I would also love to save a little over the summer and replace the hideous black railing with some white
painted wood. My husband is great at carpentry so I think I can swing some cheap labor...fingers crossed haha.
Its all still a work in progres but soo far heres whats cookin'.

$1 stone topped table bought at a yard sale this morning

$2.68 can of spray paint = cute

The flower stand I found in an old shed at my husbands
dads farm....score. I also spray painted this, but I think im going to find a different shade of green. The chair was given to
us by some neighbors when my husband helped them move some stuff. Again score!

If you want to upgrade your porch cheap too, just keep your eye out at yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. Have an idea of how you want the space to look but be a little vague in your mind. Otherwise youll have something too specific and
it'll be too hard to find exactly what your looking for.  Remember if its not the color you want spray paint can do wonders :)

New Quilt Top

Y

eah so pretty much I was bit by the quilting bug... I started with the last one just wanting to learn something new (& wanting to give something special to some friends). Now with this one im only doing it cause I have to get my fix :) I guess it would look good in my daughters crib too.

This one I designed all myself and its not quite done but you get the gist. Its going to be one more strip wide, the next and final strip will be a border of the solid white. I made it so it will fit a crib (and sooner or later a toddler bed, wow time is flying) perfectly. I used a bunch of the scraps from what I didnt use in the last one and added two other ones. I like this one, im not totally in love with it but im sure as soon as its finished and quilted, we will be BFF's.

I actually did alot of it all yesterday, it was such a sewing type day. Overcast, raining on and off, a roast in the crock pot, I'm sure you know exactly what im talking about. I'll make sure I have a post of the finished project when I get it done, included in the list will be the fabrics. I just hate when I like a fabric and I know there is no way to ever find it :)

Well have a great weekend...."its friday, friday, gotta get down on friday"
I couldnt resist

Am I not the luckiest girl in the world..."Wild Yellow Daises" grow wild in my yard :)

My First Quilt!

I FINALLY finished it! My Stacked Coin Baby Quilt is done! I pretty much LOVE it. When I started I literally had no idea what I was doing, with that being said im thinking that this is why I love it soo much. I usually pick apart every flaw in the projects I do, but with this I just cut myself some slack. I should really do that more often. I do still see the flaws in it but im not kicking myself over them. Im just so thankful for all the resources there are out there for people who are just starting out in quilting. If you put tutorials or advice up for others, thank you  soo much for what you do!
Heres some of the sites if you decided you can do this! Or mabey if you want to become more knowledgeable in this area.

Sew Mama Sew
Scroll 1/2 way down the page and there is a bunch of information on quilting, from start to finish!

Stacked Coin Baby Quilt Tutorial
Thanks "Moda Bake Shop"!

How to Baste A Quilt
"Crazy Mom Quilts" shows how to put the "stuffing" inside your quilt

How To Bind A Quilt
Again "Crazy Mom Quilts" shows us how to bind a quilt
(its the wrapping on the very edge of the quilt)

How To Bind A Quilt
This time its shown mostly all in photos. This helped me ALOT!

All in all it wasnt as hard as what I thought it would be. Im so glad I took on this challenge. I found that binding the quilt was the hardest and most intimidating. ALthough cutting the peices was really time consuming, which I wasnt expecting at all. What do you think is the most challenging part of quilting? Are you wanting to quilt but just afraid you wont be able to figure it out? Comment below, let me know.

The baby I made it for is going to look so good in it :)
