Sweet Valentines

Here's the Valentines Cards Emrey & I made. Well sort of....She started helping me and then only wanted to eat the gummy bears so I gave her a few in her own bag and set her on the couch to watch some cartoons. They were pretty simple and turned out fairly cute, they took about 30 minutes to throw together.

What You'll Need:
Graham Cracker Bunnies (such as Annie's Homegrown)
Gummy Bears
Sandwich Fold Over Baggies (not the zip kind)
Paper
Pen
Ribbon (if you dont have ribbon or want to use on hand items twist ties would work)
Hot Glue
Hole Puncher

Yields: 7 Bags
to double recipe just buy another box of Grahams and another bad of Gummies

Instructions:
Mix about a half cup of Bunnies and a handful of gummies into 7 sandwich bags
Cut paper to desired size (you can layer two colors of paper if you like) and write "Some" then hot glue your bunny on then write "loves you!"
I found it easier to glue as I was writing so there was enough spacing in between the two words.
Next hot glue the gummy bear then finish writing the rest of your card.
"Hugs from: "
Then hole punch the corner
Last cut some ribbon (around 7") and thread through the hole on the paper and tie tightly around the bad
of Gummies and Grahams

Ta-Da, Simple but pretty cute Valentine for your little one(s) to hand out tomorrow

Latest Projects

I'm just going to shot gun my way through this post
& show you some of the projects I've done latley

About a month  ago my bestie taught me to knit. Which I have wanted to do for years! Thanks Jacquie your amazing, I look up to your homemaking skills big time. This was my first project, I used 15 mm needles and bulky yarn. Now im knitting a circle scarf for me with normal sized yarn and needles and it feels like im getting no where fast. Bulky yarn and needles are a lot faster to work with.

Painted and been decorating my new sewing room that used to be a "catch all " room in the basement.
its going good :) im so excited to get out of the dinning room table and have my own space. Ill be sure and post more photos when im finished.

Here is the fabric I got on super sale at fabricpalooza on etsy.com seriously love the prints and am excited to sew them into a quilt. I've started but haven't gotten to far on it so far, its going to be a zig-zag quilt like the one below. I'm using the tutorial she listed and its way more simpler then it looks....yaaah!

Heres the link to this quilt on "The Good Report"
She has a ton of adorable and easy-ish quilts on there. I am sooo happy I found her on pinterst :)

Shirt made out of Jersey knit. I got the inspiration for the shoelace at zara.com

Baby blanket with minky dots on the back.

Stock baby hat, all I did was cut off the bow that was on it and hot glued a flower onto it.
Bam cute looking boutique style baby hat.

1st Birthday - Orange & Pink Theme

I loved this dress and cupcake birthday hat!
Its my favorite brand Mud Pie, I bought it from HERE

Sorry It was very shady under the gazebo. I was trying to take care of other things so I didnt really have time to mess with the camera functions.
Martha Stewart Pom Pom Tutorial

For this Month By Month Banner I simply just printed off the photos on Walmart.com and
picked them up an hour later. I then did 2 hole punches one inch from both
corners of the photo and looped my orange ribbon through them.
On each photo on card stock paper I stamped the month and cut it out and simply
taped it to the photo. It was very cute on the cake table

NomNomNom. I love Ice Cream Cake so much, its such a must for me. Almost up there with
 Dillons Grocery Store Cupcakes!
Almost.
What makes a good Ice Cream Cake to me its haveing both Ice Cream AND Cake in it.
That is the whole point of the name right.
Sorry I take this really seriously. Everyone is such a fan of Dairy Queen Cakes and Im like
"Uhh people its just ice cream with some oreos"
I dont get why people get so hocked up about them. Point being I wanted cake
in mine and since I decided I was going to make it
that is exactly what was in Emreys cake. :) I find the weirdest things to have such strong opinions on. :) It was a very simple cake and looks fantastic. To make it easier on yourself just use ice cream then there isnt even
baking involved! The extra nice part about it is you can make it up to like a month ahead!!!
Just click the Ice Cream Cake link

For the table runner I used cheap .01 cent a roll streamers that I bought off
Amazon.com. I just double side taped it to the plastic table covers I bought at Walmart.
Very Simple

She loved it...and thats what really is the whole point of the day. Remember that!

I also made a Pinata. It was fairly simple but also fairly messy. It was probably the funnest part of the
Party for the little kids. To decorate it I simply just cute tissue paper into quarters so I had smaller rectangles.
I then pinched the center of the small rectangle and put a dallop of hot glue on it and pressed it into the Pinata.
I did this over and over until I had it completly covered. This took about ten sheets of tissue paper

Simple Baby Blanket Or Throw

Boys, Boys, Boys! A bunch of boys have been born in the past couple weeks. One of which had no boy blankets. With every day, and with every pink or purple blanket, swaddled around him, I could feel his Dads annoyance escalating. Something had to be done! Oh and not to mention this was my nephew that was 2 weeks old and I still had no gift for. "Worlds Best Aunt," right here!
So I was at Walmart (imagine that) trying to pick something out for all these boys that i mentioned earlier, I wandered over to the baby blanket section, to take a look. "Mweeh," very average, somewhat boring blankets hung, with $12.99 price tags. (price wasnt an option, but im not going to spend $ on something thats boring, and not right for the lil guy, just so i have a gift to give) So I then decided to go check out fabric, cuz an idea was brewing. I found some cute tractor/backhoes print fleece and some yellow flannel to mach, which added up to a little over $12.
This is around 2:00 pm, I had to bake some homemade breadsticks, cook a dinner for a family thats had a lot on their plate, (they had a boy 2 weeks before, and have had complication after complication) pack for a trip, and take the dinner to the families house. All by 6:00pm. Now I Wanted to get this Blanket done too. Umm pretty much i am super women. I got all that done, made the blanket, AND a Lovey for the baby boy thats had some complications and is still in NICU. I actually got it all done by 5:30 to be exact, and no im not tutting my own horn :)

So enough about me, lets talk about this blanket. Heres the Instructions

Supplies:
2 yrds of fabric (2 diff kinds, 1 yrd a piece) Double fabric for  a throw
sewing machine
Pins (haha Pins, Needles, & Kids I finally get to use one of the words in the title)
Rotary Cutter OR sissors
something "round" (for tracing)

Start to Finish: 45 min -for normal people 25-30 min

Insructions:

1) Lay 1st fabric down, wrong side up, smooth out bumps. Lay the 2nd fabric right side up, ontop of the 1st fabric. (wrong sides will be touching)  Gently smooth out any bumps. Try and match the Corners and Sides.

2) Pin the Corners and 1 pin each on the tops and 1 pin each on the sides. Just so the fabric doesnt move around

3) Take a bowl, or big lid and place on the corner of the pinned material. Cut around the Lid so you get a rounded corner. Repeat on each corner

4) Starting  a little before a corner, take the bottom piece of fabric and fold 1/4 inch-1/2 inch inward, hold down. Do the same with the top piece of fabric. Pin the folded pieces of fabric together. Work your way toward the rounded corner. Pin every couple inches. When you get to the Corners, pin all the way around.

5) When the entire blanket is pinned, start sewing. I used a straight stich. It might make it more Jazzed up to use a decorative stich, like a big Zig Zag.

6) Enjoy! Make sure all your pins are pulled out, check and double check  :)

Tutu - Its Another No Sew

Man its been forever! I havent quit crafting but i did kinda go on a little bit of a blog hiatus. Ive been working on a baby quilt/ teaching myself how to quilt and its ate up alot of my time. (and i havent even started sewing it yet, this is all the cutting!) My husband was also out of the country and while he was gone I stayed with some of our family so me and the little wouldnt be so lonley. Soo here you go, I decided i would share this super easy Tutu with y'all. I really just feel bad about not putting anything up latley. This is a project I did about a month ago. Its super easy and a fourth grader could figure this one out. No offense to all you fourth graders out there! Enjoy

heres the blog i found to be the easiest
i just super glued the elastic instead of sewing it, since elastic and my machine are arch enemies. I find it best to keep the seperated

Tutorial: Pom Pom Flower Headband

F

or my first tutorial ever I picked a fairly fast and easy item. It should only take around 15 minutes, with most of the time being spend on cutting. I decided on a Pom Pom flower, which I will be attaching to a homemade headband. However you can attach this to anything, pin it in your hair, on your tanktop sleeve, or on a string of pearls. Well i hope you have fun, let me know what you think. If you do this tutorial it would be super cool if you took pictures of how you decided to use your creation. Here are the items you will need for a Pom Pom flower Headband:
  • Gluegun
  • gluestick
  • scrap fabric
  • felt or some type of heavyweight fabric (color doesnt matter, petals will cover it)
  • pencil
  • something round to trace, (spice lids work well) around 1-2 inches
  • scissors
  • elastic band (i used 3/4 width) available in the craft/sewing section
____________________________________________________

Take your lid and lightly trace in pencil 20-30 circles on the fabric color of your choice.
Use pencil because your marks may show
up on the edges of your "petals".
Plug in your glue gun so it will be warmed up and ready to go :)

Now cut out your the circles you traced, circles dont have to be perfect.
Cut out an extra circle in felt around the same size as the circles you traced.

Now take one circle and fold completly in half, now fold in  a quarter, like so.

<><><><><><>
<>
Squeeze glue on the tip of the petal and secure to center of your base (felt circle).
Hold until secure, around 5-10 seconds.
<><><><><><>
Repeat. Work from center of the base outward. Like so.
Go until base is covered completly.

Measure your head. Cut elastic 1/4 inch longer. bring ends of elastic together and overlap them 1/4 inch. Secure with generous dallop of glue, hold toether for 10 seconds. Squeeze glue ontop of overlap and secure finished, assembled Pom Pom to elastic band. Press down tightly for 10 seconds. Word of advise give the headband some time to dry before trieng it on. Wait about 30 min to give your glue some time to completly dry and be a strong adhesive.

Now finally put on something cute! Hope you enjoyed. Let me now if you have any questions or comments, Thanks!
