Hadley Dress for Baby

I have a new Neice! I usually make blankets but this time I thought I would try my hand at this pattern.

It's The Hadley Dress by Create Kids Couture.

The pattern was easy enough but really got lost on the tie sash step. I could not for the life of me figure out when I was supposed to stitch I together. I'm sure it was just me.

If I was a new enough sewer I would not of been able to wing it like I did.

Can't wait to see it on her! 

I'm sure the fit will be perfect.

What I Wore

I told my husband that for our anniversary  dinner tonight (anniversary is later this month) I wanted him to pick out my outfit.

I pictured me telling him my size and him surprising me but he drug me along to try on ten different things.

Top to Tunic Upcycle

I up cycled this faded glory little girl walmart shirt. I believe they were $3.somthing.

Top to Tunic (sorta) Tutorial

Here is a sloppy no pictures added tutorial. Its so simple and someone was asking about how to do them I thought I would just give an overview. It should make since after reading through it. If not feel free to ask questions in the comments!

Before cutting off two inches below the armpit line of the pre-made shirt I laid my fabric ontop of the shirt. 
Then cut the bottom of your fabric off 3 inch below the bottom of the shirt and left two inches to the side of the shirt (all this with my fabric folded in half so that there was only one seam on the side, like a book).
So basically your (folded in half) fabric will be 3" longer then your pre made shirt measurements and 2 inches wider.
Ruffle stitched the top of your fabric, stitched right side of your ruffled fabric to the right sides of shirt, folded up ontop of the shirt.
Stitched the side seam
Then fold down fabric so it resembles finished product, pictured above.
Then top stitched the shirt where the fabric was sewn on so it would lay flat.
Add a pocket or any other embelishments you want. 
Lastly fold the bottom of the fabric under twice to create a 1/4" hem. 

I had this done in like 30 min. 

Not A Professional

I am in no way a pro in this area nor do I claim to be but I thought I would give a little bit of fashion advice. At the end of typing that sentence a smile spread across my face. I seriously don't feel qualified but I know just like anything else in life we all learn a little by watching others. I can't tell you how many times I've been told that I seem like I have it all together. (thats a post/rant for another day) I've come to the conclusion that it's in part by refusing to wear sweat/yoga pants in public. Haha. It's laughable but your appearance goes a long way. I really don't have time just like any other mom to take that good care of myself. My make up routine mainly everyday just eyeliner, mascara, and blush. My hair, well....

Here is a photo showing how a little can go a long way. In neither of these photos are my hair and makeup done. Just wanted to stress how much "styling" can add to your look...

Only two things were added in photo two: a belt and a necklace. I also tucked my short in the front. That's it. Like I said a little can go a long way. 

Give your skinny jeans a cuff on the bottom, wear a contrasting undershirt, put a headband on. It won't take but 30 seconds more...

Made a new tank as a gift. Completely my own design and out of my own head only. For once. Its so fun see things take shape as you go.

Christmas Skirt

Well it's been hard to focus on any Christmas plans at all with the baby due anytime yet. My due date is 3 days before Christmas so our plans have been one big question mark...which is fine I mean what better gift could we get? 

Well anyways it saw some awesome fabric at Walmart and knew that I should really make Emrey something "christmasy" even if she just wears it to church the Sunday after or something. 

So here's a sneak peak of her "christmasy" skirt. I'm planning on adding a white tulle pettiskirt to peak out of the bottom, we'll see if I get that accomplished though. I'll share more details and the tute I used when I'm finished.

I Dream of Baby

The title of this post is the exact name of a "secret" board I constantly pin to on pinterest. I do exactly that...constantly. My one and only child is closer to 3 then she is to 2 and the beautiful urge/longing/obsession/crazy to make a human being that has 1/2 my genetic code has set in...more like bit down and wont let go. Honestly it hit when my daughter was around 13-16 months :) and I don't think it was a coincidence that she (chose) to stop nursing around that time. Well since I'm obsessing I thought I might as well make it useful since I wont be having a baby in the near-near future....

Outfits I Would Like to Illegally Download

Fall is technically here as far as the days go but around my neck of the woods the weather hasn't agreed quite yet that it is indeed fall. After my trip to the  mountains

my body hates the heat and just wants sweater weather badly. Our second trip to Yellowstone didn't help much either! (will blog about when I get enough time) 

Oh well I'll get over it because november will roll around and i'll be missing the warmth of summer :)

Until then i'll just daydream about fall style...

$1.50 Sweater Up-cycle

I saw this during what I thought was going to be a fruitless trip to the Thrift store, I had already been looking through the junk for about 15 minutes and was ready to leave when I saw this. It was in the maternity section but is actually just a 2X Women's sweater. It is in amazing shape, had the tags still on it and was such a pretty shade of soft pink. I knew right away just what to do with it. So I bought it and brought it home to sew into an asymmetrical slouchy sweater, 

which took a total of 2 seams and around 15 minutes for me to do which means its a ten minute project!

Hoooooray for easiness!

 Doesn't it look so soft!

1) Basically You flip the sweater inside out 

2) Then you pin the sides about where you see I laid my ruler 

in the photo above all the way down the sweater. Towards the bottom 

you're going to taper/angle in just like above shows (but all the way down, the sweater just hangs over the edge of my table so you cant quite see what imm saying).

Heres a closer view of what I mean. 

3) Now sew where your pins are

4) Remove pins 

5) Cut excess material off

6) Flip right side out

7) Put on

8) Flaunt it :D
